Dr. Ryan R. Ramsook is a double board certified Pain Management and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physician.  He has extensive training in minimally invasive spine and pain procedures and continues to promote innovation and leadership in the field of Pain Medicine.  He graduated from
New York University where he performed graduate level research with leaders in the field. He then enrolled in medical school at Rutgers- New Jersey Medical School where he continued to hone his interest in research. As a resident at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, Dr. Ramsook
was trained in a multi-modal approach to treating patients.  After completion of residency he then completed two Pain Medicine fellowships; one in Interventional Pain Medicine and the other in Clinical Pain Medicine.  During this time he was able to master advanced spine and pain procedures and offer a comprehensive, team based approach to treating pain and improving function.

Dr. Ramsook’s passion for healing and putting his patients first is apparent. His philosophy of melding innovation, utilizing evidence based medication and customizing a treatment plan for each one of his patient’s has earned his plaudits amongst his patients and colleagues alike.  First receiving recognition as a New York Times Rising Star in 2018, Dr. Ramsook continues to be active in the academic community where he is frequently invited to attend and lecture at conferences across the globe.  He continues to grow his passion for research and has had numerous articles, reports and text book chapters published in leading journals.

Dr. Ramsook is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at both Florida State University College of Medicine as well as Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. He enjoys teaching and continues to be passionate about research and mentorship. He also frequently lectures to medical students, residents, physicians in training as well as to the surrounding communities.

Born in Trinidad, Dr. Ramsook remains with a unique passion for serving underprivileged and overlooked populations in America and abroad.  His top-down approach to treating his patients and his strong belief in patient advocacy continues to allow him to put his patients first.  Working closely with collaborating and referring physicians Dr. Ramsook aims to avoid or potentially delay surgery if possible as well as to facilitate in making unavoidable surgery more precise.

Osteopathic Medicine 

Dr. Morgan Thorn is a board-certified physician that completed her undergraduate degree at Nova Southeastern University and then medical school at Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM). She then completed her residency at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, AL. 

 

Training under the tutelage of Dr. Ramsook, Dr. Thorn, is passionate about improving patient quality of life by designing individualized treatment plans that integrate medical management, interventional procedures, physical/occupational therapies, along with patient education. Emphasizing a holistic view of pain care, Dr. Thorn recognizes the physical, emotional, and psychological factors that influence each patients' experience.

Dr. Thorn is eager to help those in need by returning to them a functional and high quality life. She is excited to be a part of the USP team to help deliver the same patient centered care that has set USP apart from all the others!

Dr. Kody Johnson, D.C., DIBE, is a Pensacola native.  His fondest memories growing up were spent here in town at places like Hopkin’s House, Milton Bakery, and Bayview Park. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2020 and has been serving the Pensacola area since. He obtained board certification in electrodiagnostic medicine in 2022. One of the greatest lessons he learned in life was with his father following the clean up of Hurricane Ivan in 2004. There is no greater purpose in life than helping and loving others. 

 

Clinically, his true passions are electrodiagnostic medicine and research-based chiropractic care. The bulk of research behind chiropractic care is what got him into the field of Chiropractic, and he enjoys using that same research to treat his patients in a relaxed and welcoming manner. 

 

Personally, he married his wife Anastasia in May of 2017. He proposed to his wife in Bayview park, the same park where his father proposed to his mother. He is an aspiring fantasy writer whose hobbies include high-end coffee, Dungeons & Dragons, and spending time with his wife and dog.

Matthew’s fascination with the medical field began when he worked as a lifeguard on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Years later he pursued that love by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services at the University of South Alabama. While there he was active in the education of fellow EMS students as both a mentor and as an ACLS and BLS instructor. While he was obtaining his bachelor's degree he also worked in pre-hospital emergency medicine as a paramedic in Mobile, Alabama for several years. 

 

Matthew then completed his Master’s of Medical Science in Physician Assistant studies at Nova Southeastern University in South Florida. After graduating in 2013, he first practiced in family medicine and with the geriatric population in short and long term health facilities. Following this he found his true passion in the medical field in the area of Pain Management, which he has worked in for several years. He is a member of the AAPA and American Society of Pain and Neuroscience. 

 

Matthew does focus on staying up-to-date with current topics, research, and new advancements in Pain Management. He enjoys caring for patients by helping them live actively with chronic pain as he is very active himself. He and his wife enjoying biking, hiking, fishing, boating, and surfing. He also loves to participate in as many fishing tournaments as he can.

Payal graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Long Island University in 2012 then pursued her Masters in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from South University in 2018. 

 

During her nursing career she worked in the Medical-Surgical/Rehab and Intensive care unit where she provided care to a wide-range of patients.  Due to this exposure, she was in awe of treating and understanding the complexities and differences with everyone's individual health.  This further motivated her advance her career as a Nurse Practitioner. 

 

As a Nurse Practitioner, she practiced in the Primary Care setting for over 6 years.  She then transitioned her focus to Pain Management with the goal of improving the over-all well being of each patient by using contemporary, evidenced based, and holistic approach to medicine.  She values the importance of learning every day through research and keeping up to date with the newest articles ad medical breakthroughs.  She loves partnering with patients and families to educate them in health and well-being so they can live their best lives! 

 

Payal stays healthy and happy by sharing laughs with her loved ones, exploring new places, enjoying music, exploring new recipes, reading, and taking walks.

Kelly was born in New York and lived there until she was in middle school. She then moved to Tallahassee with her family and graduated with her Batchelor’s Degree in Nursing from Tallahassee State College. She began her career in nursing working primarily in labor and delivery and postpartum caring for mothers and newborns. Following her passion for travel and adventure she spent over 2 years as a travel nurse working in over 5 different states across the country.

 

She then continued her educational endeavours and completed a Masters Degree in Nursing at Chamberlain University. Kelly earned vast knowledge and experience through her training and is also a member of the Tallahassee Area Council of Advanced Practice Nurses.

Kelly is excited to grow in her career and focus on pain management under the training of Dr. Ramsook! Kelly continues to stay focused and gain knowledge through searching for the most up to date resources and articles. Kelly is very compassionate in what she does and yearns to have the best outcomes when it comes to her patients.

 

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading books, exercising, exploring new places and enjoying different foods from restaurants! Kelly is very excited to be a part of the United Spine and Pain team and ensure patients receive the absolute best care possible!

Primary Care

Keri was born in Dothan, Alabama, where she began her nursing journey by earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Wallace Community College. She went on to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and later her Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration at the University of Alabama, graduating with honors.

 

Throughout her career, Keri has gained a wide range of nursing experience, working in labor and delivery, surgery, pre-op, post-op, and the operating room, as well as in home health, palliative care, and hospice. For the majority of her career, she served as a case manager in home health, an experience that equipped her with strong skills in care coordination, patient education, and holistic, family-centered care qualities she now carries into her role as a family nurse practitioner.

 

Keri now lives in Fairhope, Alabama, with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, spending time at the beach, and being with her family.

 

She is very excited to be a part of the Pain Management team with Dr. Ramsook and Dr. Thorn and looks forward to helping patients achieve the best outcomes and quality of life possible!
